Verizon intends to integrate in all its frequency bands, namely low frequency, medium frequency and mmwave.
In cooperation with Ericsson and MediaTek, Verizon has integrated C-band spectrum with millimeter wave in Texas. Specifically, it has aggregated 100 MHz C-band spectrum and 600 MHz mmwave spectrum, with a speed of 4.3 Gbps. The lab test is part of Verizon‘s C-band spectrum test in the United States under special temporary authorization from the FCC.
Verizon spent more than $45billion, gaining an average of 161 MHz C-band spectrum nationwide, including 60 MHz A-band spectrum, covering 46 markets and will begin to provide it later this year. Before the spectrum was cleared, the operator had deployed Ericsson and Samsung‘s C-band devices and conducted C-band tests in several different markets and laboratories to work in different aggregation combinations in various environments. As for more detailed plans for C-band testing, it is not disclosed.
Verizon is expected to provide 100 million people with C-band services by the first quarter of 2022. It is expected to cover more than 175million people by 2023.
