FTTR creates a new industry that benefits the whole industry chain

At the 2022 China Optical Network Seminar held recently, Ao Li, chief engineer of the Chinese Academy of Information and Communications Technology, delivered a keynote speech on FTTR. Ao Li believes that there are three major industrial bases for the development of FTTR: 

First, the penetration rate of fiber-to-the-home tends to be saturated, and the proportion of users accounts for 95%. 

Second, China‘s optical communication industry chain has a strong foundation, and Chinese companies have more than half of the global market share in optical access equipment. 

Third, FTTR supporting indoor wiring technology is becoming more and more mature. 

National policies also clearly support the development of FTTR, at present, international and domestic have launched the development of technical standards for FTTR. Compared with traditional FTTx (including FTTH), FTTR can connect to the operator‘s network through the main optical cat uplink 10G PON, eliminating access bottlenecks, providing users with stable large-bandwidth access capabilities, stronger indoor coverage capabilities, and network visual and manageable capabilities. Ao Li pointed out that this requires FTTR to innovate in technologies such as optical link technology, Wi-Fi control technology and remote management. Usource is mainly engaged in optical communication transceiver modules and optical devices research and development, production and sales, the company said to promote the development of products to high-speed, miniaturization, low power consumption, low cost direction, for cloud data center customers to provide high-speed optical modules, for telecommunications equipment vendors to provide 5G fronthaul, middle-end and backhaul optical modules, used in metropolitan area networks, backbone networks and core network transmission optical modules and applications to fixed network FTTX optical fiber access optical devices and other high-end overall solutions. 

FTTR has created a new industry that benefits the whole industry chain, and with the development of new markets, the equipment industry chain also benefits from this, which is a new track for many enterprises.
